Abstract
The development of the 21-item Waksman Social Skills Rating Scale (WSSRS) for screening children and adolescents for social skills treatment programs and for the evaluation of those programs is described. The WSSRS demonstrated strong internal consistency and factor structure, satisfactory test-retest reliability, and mixed interrater reliability. The WSSRS correlated significantly with The Portland Problem Behavior, Checklist-Revised and differentiated emotionally disturbed students from normal students. Normative data on a random sample of 331 normal kindergarten through high school students is provided.
