Comparison of the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised for Learning-Disabled and Referred Students
The PPVT-R and WISC-R were administered to 30 learning-disabled and 29 referred students. Form M of the PPVT-R correlated significantly with all WISC-R measures for both groups. The PPVT-R also yielded significantly lower scores than the WISC-R for both groups. The learning-disabled group scored significantly lower on all measures than did the referred group. Due to a determined high degree of commonality between the PPVT-R and WISC-R verbal IQ, an ANOVA was conducted with verbal IQ covaried. Results indicated that the two groups no longer differed significantly on PPVT-R scores.
