A recent paper in WMR reported research related to South Africa's graded requirements for landfilling practice (Blight et al. 1999). The paper covered experimental periods of up to 865 days for certain of the field tests, but only up to 140 days for others. This report updates the experimental data to the end of 1999, an additional time of 700 days or 2 years. Only tentative conclusions had been possible in the original paper. The additional period of observation and measurement has enabled firmer conclusions to be reached.
