Abstract
The following survey of noteworthy federal court cases addressing corrections and detention matters encompasses those cases reported as of late autumn in 1989. The present issue of the Criminal Justice Review was on an early production schedule. Therefore, some cases reported late in 1989 will be included in the 1990 survey which is scheduled to appear in Volume 16, Number 1. The reader is reminded, as always, that the cases surveyed do not serve as binding precedent beyond their respective jurisdictions, and that some of the decisions are being appealed and are therefore subject to possible modification or reversal.
