Abstract
In the, Spring, 1982 issue the Review presented a selective survey of significant court decisions dealing with a broad range of correctional issues. (See Vol. 7, No. 1, pp. 67-74.) The volume of cases in this field Continues to increase. Federal courts are less hesitant than ever to address the merits of claims presented biv prisoners. detainees, probationers, and parolees. The following summaries, again a selective surve v, are drawn primarily from federal court decision rendered in 1982. It is important to hear in mind that these decisions do not necessarily serve as binding precedent outside the jurisdictions in which they were made, and that some of the decisions are being appealed. Decisions which wIsere reported in the Spring, 1982 issue and subsequently altered on appeal have been updated in the present survay.
