Abstract
Nylon-6 matrix has a high moisture absorption capacity, the moisture content in the nylon-6 based thermoplastic composite significantly affects its mechanical properties and the creep response. In the present investigation, the effects of moisture content on the creep behavior of carbon fiber/nylon-6 thermoplastic composites were measured. The moisture content of the composite was determined by immerging the specimen into water until a stable moisture content was reached. The creep strain of dry and wet composites was measured by using the strain gage method. It was found that moisture content has a significant effect on the creep response of nylon-6 based thermoplastic composites. The effect of moisture content on the elastic moduli was also investigated.
