Abstract
In this study a method has been developed for the calculation of effective moduli of filament wound composite tubes. Composite tubes made of two different types of fibres and an epoxy resin are tested for tension and inner pressure for three different patterns and three different winding angles. Using the results of pressure test and the properties obtained from coupon tests, and applying laminated composite plate theory, the elastic moduli are determined. Calculated elastic moduli are then checked by using the data obtained from the tension tests. Results for effective moduli are tabulated for different winding patterns and different winding angles.
