One of the goals of the SPI Pultrusion Industry Council (PIC) is to define quality assurance procedures and systems for pultrusion. To accomplish this, the factors affecting standard test procedures and pultrusion processing must be understood. This paper presents an introduction to the Taguchi technique using the 180°F SPI Gel Test on pultrusion resins as an example. A suggestion on the use of this technique for pultrusion processing will also be made.
