The effects of moisture on the compressive and interlaminar shear strengths of aramid fiber reinforced epoxy matrix composites were investigated. The compressive strengths were measured with a Celanese fixture, the interlaminar shear strengths were inferred from the results of three point bend tests. The influence of fiber surface treatment on the compressive and interlaminar shear strengths were also assessed by testing composites containing fibers with their surfaces treated and with fibers without surface treatment.
