Thickness change in SMC-R50 composite panels was used as a parameter to gauge impact-induced damage. Relations between thickness change and reductions in bending rigidity and bending strength were determined experimentally. These relations were then used in a finite element analysis to predict residual flexural stiffness and strength of SMC panels after impact. Analytical predictions were compared with experimental data.
