Abstract
The paper presents a new phenomenological approach to the prediction of fracture of UD-GFR composites under combined biaxial stresses. A com parison between different fracture surfaces made it necessary to carry out new investigations for the development of a general valid formulation of a failure criterion. Based on the results of experimental tests on circumferen tially wound cylindrical specimens, a numerical description of the failure envelope is given, and there is good agreement with experimental data ob tained from some other authors.
