Abstract
Polyaniline (PANI) and substituted polyaniline (SPANI) have been synthesized. Their structure has been confirmed from UV-Vis, Fourier-Transform Infra Red (FTIR), and 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectral studies. Their physicochemical properties are also studied. The electrical dc conductivity of the reported polymers are also measured by a four-probe technique. A fully computerized Lotus package method has been applied for the thermogravimetric studies. The kinetics of degradation mechanism and energy of activation for each degradation have been reported. Thermogravimetric analysis of the polymers show 50% decomposition over a temperature range of 600°C. XRD results show the values of 2θ within the range of 25—27° confirming the best order polymer subchains and also their crystalline character.
