Women who drive tractor-trailer rigs face many of the same problems encountered by women pursuing other nontraditional occupations. However, our research, conducted through an open-ended questionnaire, showed that the extent of these tensions is less than expected, due largely to the influence of male support, sponsorship, and protection.
