Teachers are affected by their own training and life experience. Some specific biases are: therapeutic preferences and attitudes to what is normal or abnormal behaviour. It is argued that teachers should be aware of their own biases and that they should know about their trainees’ life experiences and biases too.
Some of the problems as to how child psychiatric trainees practise are emphasized and suggestions are made as to how these may be remedied.
