Rating of Affect in a Family Dialogue

Abstract

Experiments were made to determine the amount of agreement between observers who were asked to differentiate and quantify affect in the speakers in a tape-recorded dialogue. It was shown that there is a significant tendency to agreement in these areas in untrained observers, and that the agreement increases slowly with training. Some implications of this work are discussed.
