Abstract
The advantages and disadvantages of the private practice of psychiatry have been discussed.
The changing times and the training for private practice of psychiatry have been considered.
The aims in treatment and how the patient's needs are best met are mentioned.
Finally, a look at ourselves and how psychiatrists can best function in meeting the needs in the community is considered.
