Jurisprudence as well as psychiatry have their own sets of rules and procedures. Difficulties are encountered when those two sets are expected to fit each other. The interest in rules and principles is not matched by adequate empirical information. A maximum security hospital unit is outlined and the need for special hospitals for severe behaviour disorders is emphasized.
