This article describes the development of group-analytic psychotherapy with anorexic children and adolescents in an inpatient setting. A particular point of emphasis is on the way the therapy groups evolved `spontaneously' from the group matrix within the clinic and the importance of responsiveness and `affect attunement' in the process.
