Diamonds are Forever: Mining Precious Stones in the Group

Abstract

The theme of the symposium is Relational Goods. This paper offers the experience of a group from the perspective of an individual group member. The material illustrates the following group phenomena: exchange, mirror reactions, translation, socialization, multiple transferences, projection, projective identification, the social unconscious, remembering and repeating, the foundation and the dynamic matrix, activation of the collective unconscious and others. The emphasis, however, is on exchange and the goods exchanged are relational goods, the ‘diamonds’ of the story.
