Migrants canid refugees have proved to be a challenge for modern society and certainly a challenge for group analysis as well. This challenge links migrants and refugees to the menibers of the lower social classes, who always seem to have been a v.lYery specific challenge for society as well as for psychoanalysis and group analysis. Against this background, the article explores the possibilities for understanding migrant identities, drawing attention to new? theoretical perspectives beyond psychoanalysis and group analysis, and offring new ways of conceptualizing and understanding tranHscUltural phenomena.
