Duplex sonography combined with pharmacoerection makes it possible to assess not only the arterial penile inflow but also the venous outflow and consequently the venous occlusive mechanism. The parameters for assessing venous outflow are the end-diastolic flow of endocavernous arteries and the resistence index. The evaluation of these parameters during penile duplex sonography may help to select patients who need to be further investigated by cavernosometry and -graphy.
