The patients' chronological age is less important than their biological age and whether they suffer from diseases affecting the cardiovascular and respiratory apparatus. The correct anesthesiological technique together with a suitable surgical technique reduces postoperative morbidity. The postoperative period, being subject to early and late complications, is highly critical.
