Abstract
Background
Minimally invasive urology is rapidly advancing, and single-site laparoscopic surgery is being explored clinically. Such laparoscopic procedures are technically challenging and require an experienced laparoscopic surgeon due to the lack of port placement triangulation and instrument clashing.
Methods
In the last years several surgeons all over the world have explored the feasibility and safety of LESS using several and different ports, approaches and devices. Hundereds of procedures have been described with overall favorauble intraoperative and postoperative outcomes.
Results
Our experience consists of more than 30 procedures successifully completed for adrenal, kidney disease and varicocele.
Conclusions
To date, LESS could be considered feasible and effective using currently available devices, however it is to be considered as an initial status technique requiring further confirmatory studies and advanced laparoscopic skills.
