Abstract

It is with great pleasure that we announce a new partnership. As of June 1, 2015, the Food and Nutrition Bulletin (FNB) is now being published by SAGE Publications.
Since the first volume of FNB was published in 1978, we’ve been continually striving to meet the needs and interests of our readers—a growing global community of nutrition scientists, health professionals, and policy leaders. Our goal is, and has always been, to disseminate the most cutting-edge work that is being done in nutrition research and food policy to alleviate malnutrition and hunger in the developing world.
Many of you have been with us since the beginning and may remember how the FNB has grown and evolved over the past few decades: 1978: FNB first published under the auspices of the World Hunger Program at United Nations University (UNU). The UNU continued to provide support to FNB for several decades. 1981: Dr Nevin Scrimshaw, founder of the International Nutrition Foundation (INF) and FNB, begins his tenure as an editor of FNB. Working tirelessly to ensure that the FNB was widely disseminated throughout the world, Dr Scrimshaw was an editor of FNB for 22 years and then continued with FNB as a senior associate editor from 2003 until his death in 2013. 2003 to present: FNB continues to expand its global reach and attract a new generation of authors and reviewers from over 125 countries. As an editor during this time, I’ve had the pleasure of establishing a new editorial board and adding new associate editors, editing over 85 issues of the journal so far and overseeing the transition in 2011 of FNB from a print-based publication to an online journal.
This new partnership with SAGE promises to be yet another exciting chapter in the growth of FNB. Many of our authors are already familiar with SAGE, which is highly respected as the largest independent academic publisher worldwide. SAGE’s experience as publisher of more than 800 journals and over 800 new books annually, and its commitment to the global dissemination of research in a broad range of subject areas, makes it an ideal partner for the mission of the FNB. We are looking forward to working with SAGE and welcome the expansion of FNB that will undoubtedly result from this collaboration.
