Abstract
This article deals with the revolutionary legacy of Bhagat Singh. We commemorate him for his sacrifice every year but the centenary year should give us an opportunity to go beyond his martyrdom and delve into the ideology and programme he stood for. He was not an emotional nationalist who decided to die or kill for the independence of the country. He actually had a serious alternative agenda for governance. I have tried to show how most of the issues he raised in the 1920s are still valid and can guide us to resolve our national and international problems. He should also be remembered as one of the first rationalists in the galaxy of Indian freedom fighters.
