This article describes the use of redecision therapy in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. In traumatic situations, people make decisions that appear to increase their possibility of surviving. These decisions may block survivors' enjoyment of life after the traumatic situation has passed. Redecision therapy offers a framework to assist survivors in reorienting to life. Clinical examples illustrate various techniques used within the redecision model.
