This article considers the connection between loneliness and life position. A sense of loneliness arising from a lack of sufficient social contact can influence a child's development and lead to feelings of unacceptability and not-OKness of self and/or others. The effects of loneliness can also be seen with elderly residents in nursing homes, for whom increased contact can result in improved thinking and understanding.
