This article summarizes the ITAA Ethics Committee's efforts to determine if specific ethical guidelines were needed for ITAA members engaged in reparenting therapy. The history of the committee's process and the four basic questions addressed by the committee are described. Nine areas of possible ethical problems and the existing approaches to them are identified. Based on information derived from this process, the committee concluded that the existing ITAA Statement of Ethics (1992) is comprehensive enough to cover problems that could arise in doing reparenting.
