Separating individual and social psychiatry in game analysis can be a useful and important process. Berne's distinction between individual psychiatry and social psychiatry suggests two planes and three dimensions to the individual's psychological world. Game analysis in two planes is described here using the Drama Triangle (Karpman, 1968) and the Game Pentagon (Summerton, 1985). Awareness of a person's roles on the Pentagon and the Triangle offers a strategy for achieving autonomy.
