Blending various therapeutic approaches is common among therapists, including transactional analysts. This article enhances awareness of: (1) factors contributing to congruence between Ericksonian hypnotherapy and transactional analysis; (2) the unidentified and sometimes unrecognized use of trance work by transactional analysts; and (3) the potential potency available to the transactional analyst through the use of hypnosis, and thus the benefits of developing skill as a hypnotherapist.
