Metanoia is presented as a unifying concept for describing change in life and in psychotherapy. The major circumstances under which metanoia occurs are reviewed as well as its commonly occurring features in order to broaden the perspective of the transactional analyst. Material drawn from clinical casework, literature, film, and anecdotal sources is presented to illustrate the concept.
