In the absence of a comprehensive etiological explanation of autism, a working hypothesis for treatment is outlined as a model. After discussing a general treatment plan for autistic children in a day-school setting, an illustration of phases of therapy is given where TA is used as an explanatory framework. A segment of therapy with an autistic child is offered to demonstrate the possibilities of applying TA with this specific population.
