This article describes how the authors use reparenting in a hospital setting to treat schizophrenic adolescents and young adults. Case vignettes and a research study are presented. Randomly selected patients were matched with a control group and rated before and after treatment using the Goldberg Index of the MMPI and the adaptive functioning scale of DSM III. Results showed reparenting to be effective at a statistically significant level.
