Grandparents have a major impact on the script injunctions and decisions of their grandchildren. This article reviews Eric Berne's concepts regarding grandparental script influences, presents additional observations on multigenerational family processes and surrogate grandparents as marital partners and considers the implications for clinical and educational settings.
