Careful listening (Ernst) reveals that many people continue to believe in spooks. This belief in ghostly images can be heard in the many versions of “I am being scared,” including, “He scares me,” “I just get frightened,” and, “Their laughter upsets me.” The person is creating a spook to explain anxious feelings.
