This article uses TA as a measuring device to examine how and why magical thinking exists within some correctional institutions. Discounting occurs when a correctional official justifies early adaptations concerning the issue of breaking the rules and punishment. This results in magical thinking and the offender's personality disorder which brought him to prison is not dealt with effectively.
