Christmas messages perceived by many people in childhood, and carried into later life, are fraught with double-binds, and cause anxiety and depression in otherwise adjusted people. The author reports a classroom exercise in which students recognize and discard conflicting expectations, and experience new freedom from Christmas anxieties.
