Self-hypnosis is seen as an occasion for self-stroking and self-permission while the individual is in the Child ego state. The individual uses his/her Adult “know how” to cathect the Child and enter the Natural Child relaxed state. He/she can proceed to further stroke himself/herself physically; verbally through “I statements,” and internally (mentally) by using “You Statements” under the influencing Parent. As a part of “You Statements” he/she can give himself/herself “post hypnotic suggestion” or what the writer labels Permission Giving to act in the future.
