Letting the Problem Do the Talking: A Systems Framework for the Transactional Analysis Interventionist

Abstract

The author presents a systems framework for the transactional analyst who contracts to intervene in organizations. The framework permits active intervention at three levels of the organization in each of three stages—diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation.

A significant characteristic of this approach is “letting the problem do the talking” and then deciding on the strategies which will best speak to the problem. Finally, the framework emphasizes the importance of having evaluation in any interventions. Only through some type of evaluation can the basic question—have we gotten where we want to go—be answered.
