The Necessity of Cooperation between Medicine and Dentistry to Solve Some Difficult Medical Problems in the Future

Abstract

Introduction

There is close relations between dental conditions and whole body conditions, especially occlusion and dental materials are important elements to keep body health. Recently, the relation between gum disease and diabetes is closed up. Because there is the close relationship between dentistry and medicine, the cooperation between dentist and medical doctor would be very importantto treat intractable disease. So I would like to show some cases that would not succeed without dental treatment.

Result and discussion

The herniated disk case:Two doctors in charge recommended operation but the patient recover without any operations with dental treatment. Foot representation case : Obstetrics and gynecology that are thought to be unrelated to dentistry. But a foot presentation in 7or8 months of pregnancy has been recovered by a probability of 80 % (4/5) by dental treatment. Breathing incomplete by the brain contusion : Although a doctor in charge judged that this child’s recovery was impossible mostly, breathing recovered soon after dental treatment.

Life activity fall case : Medical doctor could not stop falling life activity, but the setting of partial denture cured the patient life and increased life activity.
