Abstract
In the first part of this paper the author gives the information about the position and system of education of acupuncture and related techniques in Czech Republic. He is a teacher of acupuncture at the Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (founded in 1348) and at the same time the head of a renown rehabilitation hospital affiliated with the University (LRS Chvaly, Prague).
He also describes the roots of acupuncture in Europe and its expansion in the area of Western Medicine after the World War Two. The TCM and acupuncture have more than 50 years tradition in his country in the heart of Europe. Nowadays acupuncture is being taught both at the universities - medical faculties (pregraduate training) and in the postgraduate system of education (“lifetime education of physicians”). There are more than 2000 doctors with the acupuncture diploma in Czech Republic.
