Abstract
Herman Liebaers received an MA from Ghent University in 1942, and was employed as a librarian at the Royal Library in Brussels from 1943 until 1953. He received a Ph.D. from Ghent University in 1955, and from 1956 until 1973 he was Director of the Royal Library.He served as IFLA's President from 1969 until 1974, when he was elected an Honorary President. Mr Liebaers is an Honorary Member of the Grolier Club, New York; and Honorary Member of the International Association of Bibliophiles, Paris; an Honorary Member of the Belgian Association of Archivists; and a Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium.
