Abstract
Dietrich Götze followed his medical studies (MD in 1969) in Heidelberg and Munich with medical fellowships at the Medical School of the University of Munich and at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California, USA. In 1976 he became Associate Professor for Immunogenetics at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, and in 1977 he became Deputy Director at the Max-Planck-Institute for Immunogenetics in Tübingen, Germany. ln 1981 he moved into the publishing world, becoming Director of the Medical Editorial at Springer Publishing House, and in 1983 he was promoted to Managing Director for Editorial and Programme Development. Offices he has held include the following: Chairman of the Copyright and Publisher's Right Committee of the German Publishers Association, 1989-1992; Member of the International Publishers Copyright Council since 1986; Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADONIS, Ltd., 1990-1996,- Chairman and Member of the Executive Committee of STM, 1996-1998; Honorary Member of SAGES, USA; and Member of the German Society for Immunology since its foundation in 1969.
