The term "database", understood as a datafile stored in a computer system, is used rather freely in relation to the information file accumulated in the Lenin State Library because, due to the small volume of data, up until 1989 the work was carried out in the traditional way. As of 1990, a stcp-by-stcp transition to automation began.
