Methods of Conserving Carbon Dioxide in Artificially Ventilated Patients a Clinical Investigation

Abstract

A technique is described for maintaining the PaCO ₂ within, or close to, the normal range in patients hyperventilated using the Mapleson D Circuit or the Circle system with the soda-lime excluded. Control is achieved by limiting the fresh gas inflow to 4·5 litres/minute.
