Abstract
Following a lengthy period of development of the training program in intensive care medicine in Australia and New Zealand and the strong support of the Fellowship, the time is right to establish a fully independent College of Intensive Care Medicine. This body will take over the functions of the current Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine from 1 January 2010.
