Abstract
Donald Swartz's discussion of the Alternative Economic Strategy (Capital and Class 13) sets out to examine its strategic and political implications. In doing this he casts a critical eye on my pamphlet Socialist Economic Strategy which looks at the AES in a more positive light. Given that his arguments have a clear political dimension, and suggest that the AES is not politically viable in the terms that I set out in my pamphlet, I feel that an evaluation of his critique is warranted in this journal.
