13–16 May 2014: OTWorld – Interdisciplinary. Innovative. Informative
OTWorld in Leipzig will be focusing on an interdisciplinary dialogue between doctors, technicians and therapists. At the World Congress and leading world trade fair, some 300 speakers from 30 different countries and more than 500 exhibitors from around 40 countries will be inviting discussion of the pioneering new products, ideas and trends in the fields of prosthetics, orthotics, orthopaedic footwear technology, compression therapy and technical rehabilitation.
For the dissemination of knowledge
The World Congress held in the Leipzig Congress Center (CCL), with its many highlights, will provide the centre for scientific discussion and professional development, under the Presidency of Professor Wolfram Mittelmeier, Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic and Polyclinic at the University Hospital in Rostock. The 14 members of the Programme Steering Committee include Professor Bernhard Greitemann, Medical Director of the Bad Rothenfelde Rehab Clinic, Hospital of Münsterland, and Deputy Chair of ISPO Germany e.V., as well as Dr. Franz Landauer, Senior Clinician at the County Orthopaedic Hospital (Landesklinik für Orthopädie) in Salzburg and Member of the Executive Board of ISPO Austria.
Innovation as centrepiece of the (Congress) Programme
In numerous symposia, experts from the various disciplines will be examining the latest technological, scientific, experimental and practical developments in their fields. There will, for example, be a symposium, conducted in cooperation with ISPO Germany, on “The value and limitations of interdisciplinary consultations” (13 May, 4:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.). Some highly regarded experts in their fields have been invited to give the keynote speeches, e.g. Prof. Stefano F. Cappa, Department of Clinical Neurosiences, Cognitive Neurorehabilitation from the Italian Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, and Dr. Hugh Herr, Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.

05–07 June 2014: ISPO Short Course on the Diabetic Foot and its Rehabilitation
The “ISPO Short Course on the Diabetic Foot and its Rehabilitation” is organized by the Cambodia Trust, the Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association (PERDOSRI) and ISPO International. It will include simultaneous symposia and is expected to gather participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore, being aimed at rehabilitation doctors, general practitioners, therapists, nurses and other health professionals who work with diabetic patients on a regular basis.

25–27 June 2014: ISPO Global Educators Meeting
The ISPO Global Educators Meeting (GEM) 2014, to take place in Kobe (Japan), aims at gathering P&O educators and administrators from all over the world to discuss, coordinate, initiate and share P&O education-related activities. In particular, the GEM assumes as its main objective the improvement of communication and collaboration between P&O schools across the globe.
