4–7 February 2013: ISPO World Congress 2013, Hyderabad (India)
This landmark event will bring together the worldwide P&O community to share and showcase scientific and clinical advances, latest products, innovative technologies and newer designs and materials.
This Congress will be the first ISPO World Congress ever hosted in India - a region offering significant business opportunities and various touristic experiences. All these elements create exciting possibilities for interaction, networking and new cultural experiences.
The ISPO World Congress is aimed at orthotists, prosthetists, physiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons, physical and occupational therapists, rehab engineers and caregivers, clinical psychologists and social institutions.
It will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of the latest advancements in products, facilities and assistance available in prosthetic and orthotic care.
Through this congress – and alongside its other activities, ISPO seeks to provide the best rehabilitation options to persons with disabilities to assist them to regain functions and independence.

16–17 January 2013: ISPO Short Course on the Management of Stroke, Colombo (Sri Lanka)
ISPO will support the organization of this course convened by Handicap International Sri Lanka, in consultation with the Sri Lanka Association for Prosthetics and Orthotics (SLAPO), the Sri Lanka Society for Physiotherapy (SLSP), the Sri Lanka Society for Occupational Therapy (SLSOT). The objective of the course is to improve the technical skills and theoretical knowledge of professionals attending: enhanced skills will contribute to providing better quality treatment for persons with disabilities in the country. In addition, it will provide a multidisciplinary forum for medical doctors, physiotherapists, prosthetists & orthotists and occupational therapists in the region.
Practical sessions will be organized at the Sri Lanka School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (SLSPO), a training institution recognized by ISPO, on the following day (18th January).

23–28 September 2013: VII International FATO Congress - Addressing barriers to rehabilitation development: good practices for national plans, Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast)
The 2013 congress of the African Federation of Orthopaedic Technicians (FATO) follows on from the 2011 Congress in Arusha (Tanzania) and will focus on exchanging best practices between countries in Africa. It will build on the results of the national surveys carried out by FATO prior to the Arusha Congress and will invite participants to identify concrete actions to address barriers to rehabilitation service, taking into account international standards including recommendations of the World Health Organization and the World Report on Disability. This will feed into the work of Member Countries of the Federation as they review their national action plans.
