This work presents a numerical study that analyzes the effect of geometric defects on the dynamic frequency responses of a metal block of body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice structures. The study considers 2 types of geometric defects: one involving the variability of the cross-sectional area of the bars that make up the lattice structures, and the other involving the eccentricities of the truss. An algorithm was programed in Python to generate these defects, which were then implemented in the commercial finite-element software Abaqus/Standard. The imperfections were allocated according to a normal distribution, with parameters determined from computed tomography data presented by other authors. The natural frequency of different blocks has been calculated, considering various levels of defects. The results indicate that dynamic frequency response can be a valuable tool for analyzing practical issues related to non-destructive damage identification of imperfections in BCC structures.
